Experiencing Singularity
Megha: All spiritual books talk of One reality or Singularity, some say Brahman, others Allah, God, etc. I cannot see or feel it so why should I believe in it?
Ghora: Yes you should not believe in what you cannot perceive. Perception can be through the senses or the mind. Some minds just tend to believe in something because they love something but know not why, this is the mind of Bhakti or Dvita. Dvaita means "two", unless there is a second how can you impose your love on it. Advaita means "no two" therefore one, so you love yourself. How do you know what you are? By applying your mind you perceive yourself. Look into a mirror you see your face, you take some action and analyze it to know your face. These minds that love the self are also called Jyanies for they see self in all. From your question I gather that you want to reason out that reality. First you need the proof of existence beyond your conscious mind, which you can extend to every mind and matter later. We will perform an experiment.
Megha: Good tell me what can I get you to show me that Absolute?
Ghora: Get me your patience and introspection... now apply them on yourself and listen carefully. Execute or analyze step I talk about and you will feel you are beyond your mind. This is the first step.
Have you not woken up from a deep beautiful dreamless sleep feeling satisfied of that nice rest. If you had, ask yourself how did you know you were asleep? Your consciousness did not function in your sleep, you remember nothing at all of what happened around you when you were asleep.
What is that happiness that you had, or shall I call it satisfaction? You did nothing but lay down but then why are you so satisfied after it?
What saw you fall asleep was beyond your mind because you mind was asleep and whatever that feeling was is a leftover of satisfaction of the oneness with the Singularity. Something beyond your mind happened so your mind cannot describe what happened. Something was still in existence that helped you conclude that feeling, that was what we call Atman or spirit.
Megha: So falling asleep is becoming Brahman?
Ghora: Not exactly, lets try it again. If you ever had a vivid dream you will remember with whom and where you interacted, as well as your state of mind. Where did they come from? They were not physically true nor did you strive to imagine that dream, yet it was there. Who created the dream, wasn't it something beyond you?
Megha: Yes, so somehow I am Brahman.
Ghora: Close but not yet there. I want to point out something here, you created space, entity and time from nowhere. All that 3D activity you had never existed on this material world, and your skull has no vast space in it where it could have taken place. You had created time and space from singularity. So we conclude two things. First you can create projections from a point that has no dimension at all. Second that point is powerful enough to recreate by accessing your memory and then building upon it. Yet you are not Brahman or Singularity but a subset of it, simply because my dream and your dream do not interact.
Megha: Now I see singularity can exist and the method of its projections that can create time and space where there is no time and space. I know Brahman.
Ghora: Yes, a part of it but not its totality. We need to work further...
